Time For a Total Lockdown Before the helthcare system falls apart

We’re on the verge of entering an irrevocable dark phase of the ongoing epidemic with staggering figures of COVID infected cases reported daily & increasing death rates across all age groups. I strictly advise that it’s high time to declare a total lockdown island-wide for 2 weeks to prevent at least 2 cycles of transmission.

Despite short-term gratifications, we need to think long-term & critically evaluate how fatal the coming days are about to be unless we take immediate actions to flatten the curve. The current intermittent periods of regional lockdowns are least likely to be effective in the face of an adverse communal spread. As if a person is infected, the incubation period takes roughly about 5 days to surface symptoms & he or she remains contagious for up to 8 days probably with no symptoms & these brief lockdowns will be of no help at all.

However, we can’t completely discount the fact that the economy will still need its certain functions to be active in order to keep everyone & the country afloat & these essentials services such as food, healthcare, certain areas of agriculture & transportation are to be exempted but under strict adherence to highest safety measures.

We all are in this together & each one of us are individually responsible to help stop the communal spread & it needs to be stopped right now before we’re left with no more hospitals for the infected, no more oxygen for the ones struggling for life & simply before the entire country falls on its knees!
