The Economic Crisis | BBC

In a conversation with BBC World Service on the 8th of April 2022, we discussed the grave consequences of running short of life-saving drugs & how the prevailing economic crisis has affected Sri Lankans. It is without a doubt we need to accept that something fundamental about fiscal management has gone wrong in this country. The accumulated pressure on debt servicing & insufficient foreign reserves has left us all stranded on a desert island without the basic & most essential medicines. Better late than never, we now see major economic reforms & discussions being initiated with global financial institutions to take all possible measures to reverse the downfall of the amazing nation we are. I hope both immediate & long term arrangements will be made to ensure a continuous supply of essential medicines without fail.
