On the occasion of World Heart Health Day, themed this year as βππ¬π ππππ«π π π¨π« ππ―ππ«π² ππππ«πβ, we need to stop and think if we really do pay tribute to our hearts that they deserve. A healthy heart allows you to live long and happy. But how do we assure that our heart health is at its best?
A healthy diet and lifestyle are essential for a healthy heart, and it is my pleasure to share my thoughts with you on this special day. I strongly believe that a riotous lifestyle is the key to a healthy heart!
Avoid tobacco and alcohol which are controllable risk factors for heart disease.
Eat fewer calories and exercise more.
Add antioxidant-rich and heart-healthy fibre to your daily diet plan such as whole grains, lean protein sources, low-fat dairy products & fruits & vegetables.
Engage in activities or relaxing hobbies that let you take the edge off stressful days.
Laugh often. Laughter lowers stress hormones.
Side-step salt, and your favorite fast-food fix.
Keep your blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol in check.
If you have a family history of heart conditions, meet your doctor and take the necessary precautions.
Let’s start to take a different approach and make the right decisions. Let’s act with courage and help one another to overcome heart conditions.
