Aortic stenosis — severe narrowing of the heart’s aortic valve — has traditionally been treated by open-heart surgical valve replacement. Today, TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) has transformed the landscape, allowing a new valve to be implanted through a catheter, usually without opening the chest.
